The Amorphophallus josefbogneri is a compact species which is only found at a single restricted location in the the table top mountain of Kanchanaburi, Thailand. This species also has a prominent pink rim around the entire margin of the leaves.
For many years, the life cycle of an amorphophallus will consist of this single leaf growing, then dying after several months, then a new one growing in its place. Do not give up when the leaf dies off, as the plant will go dormant for a period of a few months and emerge with a new leaf again.
At some point, the plant will flower but this could take years. When it flowers, it gives off a pungent stench to attract birds for pollination. This stench lasts for a few hours.
